How it works

  1. Crossfire receives interchanges (files) from you or your partner, these might be picked up via SFTP, received through an API, or over a VAN.
  2. An interchange may contain one or many EDI messages. Each message is validated by the Crossfire system to make sure it’s in the correct format and data matches up on both yours and your EDI partners side.
  3. Each EDI message is mapped/translated to the whichever format is required. This could be another internal systems format or a trading partner.
  4. Similar to the pick-up/receive process, Crossfire can either send interchanges to the other system via SFTP, Email, API, or VAN.
API Integration


APIs are used to connect systems with other external or internal systems. Essentially, they allow access with certain restrictions to a system enabling information to be pushed and/or pulled from the system. Establishing API's throughout different systems within a supply chain allows effective system integration.

An EDI implementation provides the same business benefit as an API implementation.

EDI Integration


Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) has been used for over 40 years and therefore is a well-established method of system integration.

EDI relies on message standards that outline the structure of the data messages being exchanged. A different message standard will be used for each type of business transaction. Message standards replace traditional paper documents such as Purchase Orders, Invoices or movements in transport/warehousing.
